? Who owns the Pier and the Train
Hythe Pier Company Limited own the pier structure, buildings and train track.
The carriages and locomotives of the train are owned by HPHA. The process of restoration of the train is ongoing.
The pontoon and the bridge that connects the pontoon to the pier, is owned by Red Funnel Limited.
It was widely reported that all of the Pier assets were given to HPHA in early 2019, but this did not actually occur.

? What is the purpose of the Hythe Pier Heritage Association
HPHA was established by the Hythe community, as the organisation that can work on behalf of the community and wider public to secure the long term future of the pier, train, Buildings and associated structures. We will focus on two key objectives, these form our Mission Statement and are as follows
1) To preserve and protect the pier, the train and the associated structures from further deterioration.
2) To celebrate and share the history and heritage of the pier, the train, and the ferry with the community and the wider public.
The purpose of the HPHA is to develop plans and organise activities, raise funds and secure grants to deliver these objectives.
? How is HPHA organised and who is involved?
Hythe Pier Heritage Association is registered as a Charitable Community Benefit Society (No: 7708). The Society is owned by the community with any adult able to become a member of HPHA by payment of a membership fee. HPHA is led by a board of directors and several working groups.
? Who owns and runs the ferry service
The ferry service is owned and operated by Hythe And Southampton Ferry Company Limited. This company operates the pier and employs all of the staff on the pier and in the ticket office.
