Tractor unit 2 restoration and repair
Tractor 2 was taken out of service following the restoration and re-introduction of “Gerald Yorke” to service in May 2021. Prior inspection had shown the tractor to be in need of new running gear and complete restoration. The engineering team at Blue Funnel Ferries are making repairs with parts and materials bought by Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA).
The tractor is also known by its original number of 16302.
HPHA is managing and supervising the works together with Blue Funnel and volunteers from Hythe Shed (at the pier) as a collaborative project.
Prior to commencement of the work Blue Funnel gifted ownership of tractor 2 to Hythe Pier Heritage Association.
The project is expected to complete in the Autumn of 2023.
