In preparation for major fundraising for the large scale restoration of the pier and buildings, we have launched the Viability project. This aims to assess the approach to restoration and develop a list of the likely costs of doing the work.

The specific issues to be resolved are

• Approach to be taken in the repair of the pier head steelwork
• Monitoring the movement of the pier columns to ensure adjustment is possible following restoration
• Outline ideas and designs for the use of the pier buildings
• Estimates of outline total costs for restoration.
